Inspiration for the Poconos Camp

 WHAT INSPIRED ME TO DESIGN WITH THIS STYLE......


After researching and finding out what creatures lived in the Poconos Mountains, I decided to base my design off of having a unique personality and equality. I created a board that tied all of my chose of colors, inspirational design ideas or a theme and I threw in my woodland creatures.

 The camp is designed for kids from the ages 8-14. Cabin fever in the mountains really show through, i think, in the furniture and accessories. A lot of furniture used in log cabins and ski resorts have a similar style as to the one i chose. I chose funny animals because the animals were a good thing for the younger kids but i dressed them up in suits to be humorous that the 14 years old's could laugh at and not feel like it was childish.

There will be 4 groups the kids will be split in. For a week, the kids would classified what group they are in. If you in the deer group then you are a deer. I designed it like this so
kids with chronic illnesses wont focus on what is going on with their body physically and can show their amazing personality through the character they are assigned. 

• All of the fabrics and finishes are sustainable. Most of all the wood is reclaimed wood or freshly cut and has a thin layer of clear coat. The fabrics used are either organic or recycled. I chose leather because it is durable and kids and jump and play on it.
• All paint is low emitting and has harmless fumes. The colors chosen, to me, makes you feel comfortable, calm and cozy. 
• The browns and oranges bring out the true forest or natural earth aspect ( brown for trees and dirt /  oranges for the sun and leaves when fall sets in ). 
• The blues and greens mainly focus and bring out the other half of the earth         ( blue and green reflects the sky, water and the green is also for leaves when spring sets in ).

I think any kid would have a great time here and feel comfortable and at home. So many activities go on here and as their character, they will forget whats on the outside and focus whats on the inside- their personality!
This place will definitely be a judgement free zone and full of laughter!
